On Thursday 9th June, 11 staff members from the APRIL group volunteered to spend a day working in aid of the charitable association, Emmaüs The aim of this day was to help sort and add value to the items donated to Emmaüs. So they spent the day sorting, organising and of course meeting the Emmaüs companions who endeavour everyday to keep the Emmaüs communities going.
Whether sorting clothes or mending bikes, everyone had a useful role to play and left feeling proud and happy with their involvement. "We'll go home with a bit more humanity and perspective," shares one of the participants.
They were all delighted with the time they spent together: "It is a day during which you can let go of things and get to know the people around you better," points out one of the participants.
Part of the APRIL Citizen scheme, the TOIL solidarity day, as it was taken by those who participated in this activity, involves offering a day off in lieu to a charitable activity by getting involved with an association.
