The 5th BVA/APRIL healthcare report, a study carried out jointly by the APRIL Foundation and the APRIL Association of policy holders, reveals that French people appear to be increasingly passive as regards their own healthcare. Today, 8 out of 10 French people believe that being healthy comes from non-behavioural factors, such as environment, morale, working conditions, and not from their own personal behaviour (diet, being active, etc.).
The study shows that since 2011 French people feel concerned about their health but are less prepared to do something about it. Indeed, 83% believe that they already know what constitutes being healthy but only 51% read up about it.
French people are also less worried about screening. In 2013, 75% took preventative tests whereas in 2015 this figure dropped to 70%.
Finally, one thing remains sure: less than half of the French population feels responsible for the social security deficit.
