At the launch of the SEPH (a week-long event promoting the employment of people with disabilities), APRIL and its corporate foundation organised a conference-debate entitled 'Integrating diversity into our lives', with Marie-Amélie Le Fur, paralympic athletics champion and one of APRIL's partners. The aim of this session was to raise awareness amongst the 50 young volunteers from Unis-Cité* about disability in order to challenge conventional wisdom. Developing an understanding of diversity which goes beyond the clichés helps us live in an accepting and tolerant society. This attitude can be developed from a very early age and smooths the way for the inclusion of people with disabilities at school and in the workplace.
* The APRIL Foundation supports the Unis-Cité association's 'Néo-citoyen' programme entitled 'Improving how we live together', run by volunteers in schools. Further information here.
