APRIL Marine supports Clément Machetel for the next 2019 Mini Transat race!
Clément had wanted to cross the Atlantic in the Mini Transat 6.5 race for a long time. He will be displaying the APRIL Marine logo as he travels across the Atlantic from Douarnenez to Pointe-à-Pitre on his Mini.
Clément is an accomplished windsurfer and experienced sailor on the First class 8, the pogo 2, the Figaro, the J 80 as well as the laser SB3. He is currently competing on board a Mini 6.5, with APRIL Marine as his main sponsor, in the pre-selection races.
Clément Machetel first started windsurfing at the age of 8, in the north of Brittany. A young windsurfing hopeful at 12, who then took part in a sports-study programme in sailing in la Baule, and competed in his first solo race in a Figaro around Brittany at 18, in the Spi-Ouest France as well as the French offshore championship, his track record is already impressive. A real seafaring enthusiast, Clément is also very ambitious and launched his own business at 21. He now works at Helly Hansen and is truly passionate about what he does.
The Mini Transat race is the place to learn about offshore racing on 'mini speedsters'. It is a race which really grips people and captures the imagination, in which the greatest names in sailing have taken part. It is an adventure which requires unfaltering commitment.
Clément Machetel, skipper APRIL Marine
